Sugared Roses
So how cool are sugared little pink flowers? Sugared roses and roses made out of sugar are so cute on any kind of pastry. Well, any kind except quiche, I suppose.
For a while, I was really interested in making gum paste roses. I tried, but I burned out my mixer. This was before I got the super-duper Kitchenaid mixer that I have now. I wish I had had the following video to

You can make all kinds of flowers with gum paste. Some people even make blown flowers out of sugar–I hear it’s like working with glass. It sounds fattening, but I suppose after you’ve went to that much trouble, the last thing you are going to do is gobble it all down.
